To make the kite you will need: two round sticks (one 24 inches long, one twenty inches long), a heavy trash bag, masking tape, lightweight string or fishing line, a craft knife, a ruler, a pen and ribbon.

Step One: Cut a notch into each end of the sticks using the craft knife.

Step Two: Measure six inches from one end of the longest stick and make a mark on the stick with the pen. Then measure ten inches from one end of the shortest stick and make a mark on that stick.

Step Three: Place the shorter stick over the longer stick to make a cross-like shape with the two sticks. Match up the marks on each stick and wrap them together with the string in a crisscross pattern.

Step Four: Starting from the center of the kite, thread the string in the notches on the ends of each stick to frame a diamond shape for your kite. Tie the end of the string in the center of the two sticks.

Step Five: Lay the trash bag over the frame and cut it in a diamond shape that is a little larger than the frame of the kite. Fold the edges of the trash bag over the frame and tape them down.

Step Six: Cover the top and bottom tips of your kite with tape, punch a hole in the tape and tie a two foot piece of string from the top hole to the bottom hole at the back of the kite.

Step Seven: Knot one end of the remaining string in the middle of the string you just attached to the kite.

Step Eight: Tie a long ribbon to the bottom of your kite.
