Search Operators

Search Operators

When you're conducting research online, how can you be sure your search results yield information you can actually use?

Step One: You can narrow down your search by asking specific questions or using specific terms related to your topic.

Ask yourself, what are 2-3 questions I have about this topic?

Then, break the questions down into the key words. For example, "What do cats eat?" could become "what cats eat" or you could think of alternate terms and come up with "cat food."

Step Two: You can use search operators. Search operators are words or symbols that you can to your search to help narrow or broaden your results.

Watch the video to learn more about search operators. Then try your hand at the practice questions to see what you learned.
