And it's a huge source of revenue for websites, apps and even games. Revenue for online advertising reached almost $60million in 2015 and in 2017 it is expected to surpass even television advertising.

Most of the time, online advertising is a harmless annoyance and something we've come to expect when we view a video or visit a website.
