Suffix -LESS
When you solve a subtraction problem, the solution to the problem is less than what you started with. For example, what's five less than three? Two. You had five and now you have two, so you are without three. Similarly, the suffix -less means without.
A suffix is a group of letters that is added to the end of a word. A suffix changes the meaning of the word.
For example, if a situation is hopeless, then it is without hope.
