Situational Irony

Situational Irony

Profession - Fireman
Imagine a story about a firefighter. She's a great firefighter. She has put out many fires and has saved the lives of many. There's just one catch - she's afraid of fire!

A firefighter afraid of fire is an example of situational irony.

Situational Irony is when the opposite of what is expected happens.

A nutritionist who has a freezer full of ice cream.
A man who drops a banana peel, and then slips on it.
A girl who gets a cast off her arm, and then falls and breaks her leg.
A woman who thinks she has found the man of her dreams, and then discovers he is married.

The practice questions and video below will help you learn more about this type of irony.
