Subject and Object Pronouns
Subject and Object Pronouns

Tom is giving a present to Jerry.
Jerry is giving a present to Tom.
If we use subject and object pronouns, we can write both sentences as:
He is giving a present to him.
Both he and him are pronouns. He is a subject pronoun. Him is an object pronoun.
Most sentences have a subject and an object.
- The subject is the person or thing performing the action.
- The object is the person or thing receiving the action.
If a pronoun replaces the subject of the sentence, it is called a subject pronoun.
If a pronoun replaces the object of the sentence, it is called an object pronoun.
The practice questions and video below will help you learn more about these two types of pronouns.
