Poems come in many different types.
Some poems are short, some poems are long.
Some poems rhyme, some poems do not.
The look or type of a poem is called the poem's form. The form of a poem can determine:
- the number of lines in a poem
- the number of syllables per line
- how the lines of a poem are organized
- the poem's rhyme scheme
- the subject of the poem
Some forms of poetry include: ballad, haiku, cinquain, concrete, acrostic, sonnet, ode, limerick, and free verse.
