Text Features

Did you know that when you read a non-fiction book, the author often includes special details to help you understand the text?

It's true!

These special features are called text features. They are special details and formatting elements that help the reader understand key points and information in a text.

Text elements include details such as:
  • headings
  • captions
  • photographs
  • bold font
  • glossaries
  • table of contents
  • bulleted lists

All of these features are included in a text to help you find the information you're looking for and figure out what it all means.

The practice questions and video will introduce you to these features and what they look like in a text.
