When you don't know something and want to find out all about it, what do you do?
You ask a question.
To ask a question, you don't just throw a question mark on to the end of a sentence.
You good?
Dogs eat?
Play with me?
Mom make dinner?
Instead, you have to form the question in a specific way. Knowing how to ask a question is an important part of speaking and writing English.
A basic question uses the following formula:
Question word + Auxiliary Verb + Subject + Main Verb
