In the 1950s, automobile engineers began incorporating crumple zones into the design of cars. These crumple zones increase the collision time. To give you an idea of the effectiveness of crumple zones on passenger safety, use the scenario described below to answer the next three questions. Show all your computation work.

A 91kg passenger, Chris, is riding in a car that crashes into a tree at a velocity of 15m/s. The car, a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air, has no crumple zone. Another 91kg passenger, Frank, riding in 2015 Chevrolet Malibu with a crumple zone, also crashes at 15 m/s. The time of the crash of the car without a crumple zone is 0.1 s, while that of the car with a crumple zone is 0.4 s.
