Types of Analogies

Types of Analogies

Apple is to Orange as Radish is to _______.

The phrase above is an analogy. To figure out the analogy, you must figure out what two things are being compared and how they are being compared.

Apples and oranges are both fruits. One is orange, the other is red. A radish is also red, so you can guess that the analogy is comparing the fruits by color. To complete the analogy, you need a vegetable that is orange in color.

Apple is to Orange as Radish is to CARROT.

Analogies are a type of vocabulary puzzle. They may seem like they are tricky to solve, but if you know what to look for, you'll find that they're actually not that difficult.

The video below will introduce you to different types of analogies. After watching the video, use the tips to solve some analogies.
